iOS 17.5 Release

iOS 17.5 to release soon : Major iPhone update expected any Time now

Did you install iOS 17.4.1 on your iPhone yet? It was a tiny, security-focused feature with bug squishes and important security fixes only, rather than new features (though some users are also reporting improved battery life since they installed it). But the world of iPhone updates never stands still, and we’re on to iOS 17.5 any minute, it seems. After all, it’s been a full three weeks since the last beta came out. That’s because, as a small update, iOS 17.4.1 didn’t have any beta versions, instead launching fully-formed into the world as a general release. But the next big thing is on its way already. Two modifications are anticipated to come with the forthcoming software update.

Apple is set to release the initial beta version of iOS 17.5 for the iPhone and two modifications are anticipated to come with the forthcoming software update. iOS 17.5 is expected to enable iPhone users in the EU to directly download apps from the websites of approved developers. Additionally, the update may introduce modifications to the functionality of Apple ID recovery contacts. Available reports say that “Apple will soon release iOS 17.5 with build number 21F5048f, according to information shared on social media by a private account with a strong track record.” That account usually announces this information just before the software goes live.

The report also says that there’s been growing evidence of iOS 17.5 in the publication’s Google Analytics data, which is often a very clear sign that the real thing is about to appear. All of which suggests something is imminent. Of course, at first, it will be for developers only, though a public beta routinely follows a day or a few days later. Apple has recently revealed that developers who meet the criteria will have the opportunity to distribute their iOS applications to European users through their own websites. The tech giant stated that this innovative "Web Distribution" capability is set to launch sometime "later this spring" alongside an imminent software update for the iPhone, likely pertaining to iOS 17.5. The distribution of "Web Distribution" will have restrictions and will only be available to prominent developers located in the EU. In order to be eligible for this distribution method, Apple has set certain criteria.

The developer must have been a member of the Apple Developer Program for a minimum of two consecutive years and their app should have received over one million annual installations on iOS in the EU during the previous calendar year. This new distribution method, "Web Distribution," expands upon the existing alternative app marketplaces that Apple permits on the iPhone in the EU, starting from iOS 17.4. These modifications to app distribution align with the regulations outlined in the EU's Digital Markets Act.

We’ll get a much better idea of what’s coming as soon as the beta lands. Top of the list are updates which will affect users in the EU. As part of the move to admitting external app marketplaces in the EU, users will be able to download apps from developers’ websites. Apple said “Web Distribution, available with a software update later this spring, will let authorized developers distribute their iOS apps to EU users directly from a website owned by the developer.” According to reports available, iOS 17.5 might incorporate certain modifications to Apple ID recovery contacts. Nevertheless, no specific information is available, and there is a possibility that these alterations may not be apparent to users. Since there are strong rumours that new iPads are coming in early May. It is anticipated that iOS 17.5 will be available to the public by the end of May. Apple is expected to complete the internal development of the initial beta version of iOS 17.5 this week. Nevertheless, it remains uncertain whether the first beta will be launched this week or at a later date.
