New feature to find old messages on WhatsApp

WhatsApp introduces calendar feature for easy message retrieval

WhatsApp now automatically navigates users to their preferred old messages by "search by date" feature. Addition allows users to effortlessly navigate to their preferred past conversations. In a bid to enhance user experience, WhatsApp - owned by Meta -  has unveiled a new feature aimed at simplifying the process of finding old messages. Meta has significantly improved the ease of searching previous messages on WhatsApp by introducing a calendar, which will help users find their message history by selecting a specific date on it.

This innovative addition, termed the "search by date" feature, allows users to effortlessly navigate to their preferred past conversations. The update, available for both Android and iPhone users, introduces a calendar interface within the app, enabling individuals to select a specific date to search for messages or media. With this most recent update, users may now use the date option to search for a certain message or piece of media on WhatsApp. This eliminates the need for users to navigate around the chat window in order to find a message from a certain event.

Users of Android and iPhone may now get the update, and web users and those using WhatsApp on PCs and Macs can also use the same capability. Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, also took to his WhatsApp channel to announce the news, underscoring the company's commitment to enhancing user convenience and accessibility. WhatsApp will automatically navigate you to the messages from that particular day when you click on the calendar icon and choose the date. Upon selecting the calendar icon and choosing the desired date, WhatsApp automatically directs users to messages exchanged on that particular day. This streamlines the search process, particularly beneficial for users seeking specific information or memories buried within their chat history.

However, amidst these advancements, WhatsApp users on Android devices should take note of a recent change regarding chat backups. Conversations can no longer be backed up for free on Google Drive, as they now contribute to the user's storage limit. The introduction of the calendar feature adds to WhatsApp's recent slew of updates, which include various text formatting options like strikethrough, bold, italic and monospace. Moreover, the platform has prioritized security enhancements, ensuring a safe environment for its vast user base. In the past several months, WhatsApp has added a tonne of new features. It has included various text formatting choices, including strikethrough, bold, italic, monospace, and more. Following is the procedure to use WhatsApp's calendar feature to search for messages or content:-

Additionally, WhatsApp has added a number of security-focused features, making it a secure platform. If you use WhatsApp on an Android device, be aware that you are no longer able to backup your conversations for free on Google Drive because WhatsApp chats are now counted against your allotted storage limit.
