Select-all option available in Gmail

Gmail for Android finally gets select-all option

Google always focuses on improving all its services and introduces certain enhancements in order to offer users a convenient and better user interface, while Gmail is no different. Gmail stands at the top in being the most used email Android app across the world. The Gmail for Android app is finally getting a feature, a select-all option. The feature has been a work in progress for a while. However, it’s now rolling out widely, per reports available. According to the publication, Gmail app ‘versions 2023.11.12.586837719’ and ‘2023.11.26.58659193’0 have the select-all option. Gmail on my Pixel 8 Pro is on the latter version and has the select-all feature as well. Select-all shows up when you select an email, either by tapping the sender’s picture or by long-pressing on an email. You can then tap select-all to, select all the emails.

Being the most widely used email service, Gmail hasn’t had the most crucial Select All button for years, which allows users to manually choose each of their email messages in order to delete, archive, or organize. Meanwhile, it’s great that Google has finally added a Select All button within the Gmail app. On the flip side, some of the users have spotted the new update within the Gmail app 2023.11.12.586837719 and 2023.11.26.586591930 versions, respectively, which indirectly indicates that the feature will be rolling out widely. At the same time, Select All is an important feature, as users had to manually select each of their emails one-by-one in order to delete or archive them.

On your Gmail app, simply long-press on any single email.

The newly-added Select All option will appear in the top left corner.

Tap on the Select All option.

Then, select the delete icon.

Although the Select All feature is very important and can save a lot of time, which we used to spend earlier selecting each email message separately, Select All comes with a small twist, which allows you to by-default select up to 50 emails at once. However, if you select the Select All option and if the list of your emails is very long, you need to scroll down after the 50th email, and you will notice the other emails in the list that aren’t selected. While,  before tapping on the Select All option, you scroll down the email message list, you can seamlessly select an entire batch regardless of how many emails are within the list. Furthermore, the recent addition of the Select All feature is a significant change but can result in several game-changing capabilities in the coming future. Google has always tried to offer its users the best possible functionalities and user-friendly experience.
