Whatsapp Channels is an intuitive and secure platform designed for seamless communication between individuals and organizations and it comes Integrated within the app in a separate tab/section. It was rolled out way back in June 2023. So, alongside your conversations with loved ones, groups, colleagues and others, you can conveniently access Status updates of the channels you opt to subscribe to, which can be anything from organisations to even influencers. These channels are broadcasting tools that allow administrators to disseminate text, images, videos, stickers, and polls in a one-way format that encompasses a wide array of interests, from hobbies to local updates and sports teams. Channels can even be accessed through invitation links shared via chats, email and more. WhatsApp has also derisked Channels fully. As a channel admin, your phone number and profile photo remain confidential and are not visible to your followers. Similarly, when you follow a channel, your phone number remains undisclosed to the admin and other followers. WhatsApp is working on a number of updates for its Channels features. From displaying verification badges within channels to a redesigned recommended channels section. Following are the some of the important points:-

WhatsApp is working on several updates for its Channels feature

Recently, WhatsApp also changed its colour scheme for iOS users

The updates include a more accessible entry point for creating channels

WhatsApp introduced Channels back in September last year, enabling users to send messages to large groups of people at once. As soon as the feature was rolled out, several companies, publications, celebrities and influencers used the new feature in order to engage with their audience. At the time of the feature's launch, WhatsApp had said that Channels is different from your regular chats. Now, the Channels feature hasn't really received major updates since its launch. But this is going to change soon. As per recent report available, WhatsApp is working on a number of features for Channels.

A new WhatsApp Channels update will be rolling out a number of benefits for users. WhatsApp Channels update will bring an improved channels list to a future update. According to a reports, WhatsApp is enhancing its channels feature by introducing several user-friendly updates. These updates include a more accessible entry point for users to create and discover channels, making navigation more intuitive. WhatsApp is working on a feature which will allow users to perform bulk actions on multiple channels simultaneously, such as muting, marking as read, or pinning them. Additionally, WhatsApp plans to integrate a verified badge directly within the channel list, a feature not present in the current version of the app. The redesign of the recommended channels section, now placed at the bottom of the list, will also make it simpler for users to find and follow new content. WhatsApp is set to roll out more accessible entry points that users can not just create, but also discover channels. Also, a verified badge will help identify trusted or fake channels. The addition of the verified badge within the channel list will also assist users in enhancing trust and safety on the platform. In short, WhatsApp navigation is set to become more intuitive for users.

These updates are expected to improve how users interact with channels on WhatsApp. The new bulk action feature, for instance, will simplify how users manage their channel interactions, enabling them to quickly mute or unmute several channels at once, thereby streamlining their notification settings. This will be particularly handy through an overflow menu which allows selecting all channels simultaneously, cutting down the time spent on channel management.

WhatsApp turns green for more users. Recently, WhatsApp changed its colour scheme for iOS users to a green-themed one instead of the traditional blue. The change began rolling out in February, but recently, users also received the new update. While on Android devices, WhatsApp had always had a green interface, the colour used to be a vibrant blue in iPhones. Right from the status bar to the chat-list window, everything went through a design change. In addition to the icons, even the links which are shared within the app have a green colour to them instead of the usual blue.  "Meta had earlier revealed that the changes were to bring a "modern, new experience to WhatsApp and make it more accessible as well as easier to use."" According to the report, these features are in the development phase, WhatsApp is rolling it out through the Google Play Beta Program, and it will take time to be ready for a roll out for all users.
