Apple's new iPhone 17 Plus may have different size

iPhone 17 Plus to feature smaller display size than outgoing models. As per leaks available, iPhone 17 Plus will be smaller. iPhone 16 launch soon with Pro models’ display size changing. Apple aims to give iPhone 17 Plus its unique identity and is expected to lessen size. The iPhone 17 Pro has been the subject of several reports in the past, some of which claimed it would have a 2nm CPU, always-on features, and high refresh rate panels but now its size is also the talk of the town. There are already reports going around about the iPhone 17 Plus that suggest the 2025 Apple model may have a smaller screen, according to reports available.

The iPhone 17 Plus seems to buck the trend of ever-larger screens; it will debut in late 2024, following the release of the iPhone 16 series. It’s actually time for the iPhone 16. However, leaks about iPhone 17 have already started surfacing around the world. A report says that iPhone 17 Plus will actually be a smaller than the outgoing Plus variant iPhones. iPhone 17 Plus is expected to feature a smaller display compared to the current iPhone Plus models.

In the past, Apple has remained consistent by matching the Plus models' display dimensions to those of the more costly Pro Max models. For example, the screens on the iPhone 14 Plus was 6.7 inches in size, which was the same as the screens on their corresponding Pro Max models. Similarly, iPhone line up display size goes something like 6.1-inch for iPhone 15 , 6.7-inch for iPhone 15 Plus, 6.3-inch for iPhone 15 Pro and 6.7-inch for iPhone 16 Pro Max. As per a recent report, the iPhone 16 Pro is speculated to come equipped with a relatively bigger display compared to the iPhone 15 Pro. The report mentions that the iPhone 16 Pro will feature a 6.3-inch display instead of 6.1-inch. Also, the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s display size is set to go up to 6.9 inch instead of 6.7 inch in iPhone 15 Pro Max.

With this theory, this year, the Pro models will change the display dimensions and next year, the non-Pro models will get changes to their display size. The Plus variant features a smaller display than the outgoing models. While the exact display size of iPhone 17 Plus still unknown, we suspect it will sit somewhere in between the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro Max. It has been reported that Apple may be trying to make its models easier to identify from one another by changing the screen sizes of the models in its line up. This tactic might satisfy various user preferences, especially for those looking for a mid-sized gadget which strikes a balance between comfort and usefulness. 

Considering current leaks and speculations, we expect that a change is coming in respect to the display size of the iPhone 17 Plus model. However, what that change will is still unknown. But it looks like Apple is trying to give the iPhone 17 Plus or the Plus variant its own identity instead of the bigger screen version of the vanilla variant. Apple might offer the iPhone 17 Plus at a more competitive price point, further appealing to its target market, by perhaps decreasing production costs with a smaller display.
