New feature for custom chat colours by WhatsApp

WhatsApp introduces fresh chat colours customisation feature

WhatsApp is introducing a new feature which allows users to add a pop of colour to their chats, breaking away from the traditional dark green theme, making it more personalised. New feature in Meta's popular instant messaging app enables users to add pop of colour to their chats. The app will automatically set a wallpaper which complements the selected message colour, ensuring a cohesive aesthetic. Meta's popular instant messaging app is set to roll out an update which will offer a selection of 20 different colours for users to customise their chat themes, as reported.

Meta's popular instant messaging app update marks a departure from the traditional dark green theme, offering a fresh look for conversations. This new feature will be included in the WhatsApp for iOS 24.20.71 update and significantly expanding their customisation options. Users may opt for a default chat theme, within the app settings, ensuring a consistent look across all chats. According to reports available, users will have access to a selection of 20 different colours, significantly expanding their options for customising chat themes. In total, 22 unique themes will be available, allowing for a more tailored messaging experience. Within the app settings, users can choose a default chat theme to maintain a consistent look across all conversations. Additionally, they have the flexibility to select different themes for specific chats, distinguishing between personal, work and group discussions.

The app will automatically set a wallpaper that complements the selected message colour, ensuring a cohesive aesthetic. Importantly, while users can personalise their chat themes, the changes will not affect how conversations appear on recipients' devices. However, users can also choose different wallpapers that they prefer or may find relevant to the context of the conversation, making two chats, that share the same theme, look distinct. Selecting a theme for a specific chat will not affect how that conversation appears on the recipient's phone and will not impose any changes on their contacts.

This means that each participant can maintain their preferences without impacting others. For those eager to try this feature, it is currently available to a limited number of users via the App Store and TestFlight app, particularly for those participating in the beta programme. The new feature is available to some iOS users who install the latest update of WhatsApp from the App Store, and it is rolling out to more people in the near future. This move by WhatsApp is part of its ongoing efforts to enhance user engagement and offer a more personalized messaging experience.
