WhatsApp announces easy feature for online payments
WhatsApp is introducing on a new feature which will make it easier for users to make payments using the app. The messaging app is rolling a feature using which users can scan UPI QR codes directly from the chats list. Whatsapp making it easier to make UPI payments and introduces new payment feature allowing UPI QR code scanning in chats list. Users can access shortcut for payments via version 2.24.7.3 update. Additionally, WhatsApp blocks users from capturing profile pictures with error message. The report adds that the feature is available for Android beta testers and users can access the feature by installing update version 2.24.7.3.
Meta-owned instant messaging platform, WhatsApp has announced rolling out a new feature to provide a convenient solution to its users for making or receiving online payments via adding Unified Payment Interface (UPI) QR code scanner to the chat lists in its 2.24.7.3 update. The report adds that some Android beta testers can now use a new shortcut to make payments. Users can now access a shortcut to make payments from within chats list allowing users to scan any UPI QR code. As a significant number of individuals are already utilising WhatsApp's payment feature to securely send and receive money, it stands as a highly advantageous tool for users. This functionality adds further convenience, enabling seamless transactions directly within the app.
Prior to this update, the initial assumptions have been made regarding the development of this feature for enhancing both convenience and accessibility to users to easily share their QR codes, however, its functionality would be different. The new feature of the Meta’s instant messaging app created ease for its users to make securely send and receive money, as they can easily scan any UPI QR codes from chat lists. “With the integration of UPI QR code scanning feature directly from the chats list, users no longer need to navigate through multiple screens or follow several steps to make payments. This process not only saves time but also enhances the overall user experience, making the scanning experience more intuitive,” mentions the report.

The popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp, owned by Meta, has also begun introducing a new feature aimed at preventing users from capturing screenshots of other users' profile pictures on WhatsApp. As per reports available, the most recent stable version of the app prevents users from capturing screenshots of their WhatsApp contacts' display pictures. Upon attempting to capture a screenshot of a profile picture, WhatsApp displays an error message indicating that it is unable to take a screenshot due to app restrictions for all users.
