Galaxy S23 FE

Facts about Galaxy S23 FE dust/waterproof status

The Galaxy S23 FE is Samsung's third Edition smartphone based on its premier Galaxy S flagship line up. The Galaxy S23 FE is an excellent phone for everyone, and it offers a lot of the same awesome features as the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra at a more affordable price. Whether it's a beautiful AMOLED display, stereo speakers, excellent performance (and cooling), versatile camera setup, or all-day battery life, the Galaxy S23 FE has a lot going for it. For many, the Galaxy S23 FE also has a water and dust-resistant design.

This will not come as a surprise to most people. Samsung has been putting water and dust resistance on its leading mid-range and flagship smartphone line ups for a few years now, and in 2023, the Korean giant also brought water and dust resistance to its mainstream flagship and mid-range tablets.

The Galaxy S23 FE, like every other Galaxy S smartphone, features an IP68 rating. The Ingress Protection rating is an international standard for devices that are resistant to dust and water, and the numbers next to the letters IP tell you how resistant to dust and water a device is certified to be. The first digit denotes dust protection, and level 6 is the highest protection possible and makes dust ingress in real-world use pretty much impossible. The second digit indicates the level of water resistance and an 8 means the Galaxy S23 FE can survive in water at a maximum depth of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes.

While an IP68 rating means the device is fully dust proof, the water resistance certification is applicable only to freshwater, and there's no protection against high-pressure, high-temperature jet sprays. In short, the Galaxy S23 FE is water resistant, not waterproof, just like any other smartphone available in the market.. But you should have no concerns if you accidentally spill water on the Galaxy S23 FE, run it under some low-pressure tap water to clean grease and grime that you can't get off with just a tissue or piece of cloth, or have to use it in the rain for a bit, as an IP68 rating provides more than adequate protection in those day-to-day real-world situations.

If you want a phone that frees you from the worries of dust or water damage, the Galaxy S23 FE has the best protection possible. It also has plenty of other neat features, so it is recommended for purchase.
