Galaxy S20 update

Security update for Galaxy S20 in Europe

Samsung has released a new software update to the Galaxy S20 series. It brings the November 2023 security patch to the smartphone, fixing several security issues that were found in the previous version of the software. The Galaxy S21, Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S23 have already received this update.

The new software update for the Galaxy S20 series comes with firmware version G98xBXXSIHWJD, and it is available in Switzerland. We expect the new update to expand to other European countries in the near future. Other markets, including Africa, Asia, Australia, Latin America and North America, could also get the update soon. It is a minor update, so you can download the update even with your cellular connection, depending on your available bandwidth and limits.

The November 2023 security patch that is included in the new software fixes over 65 security vulnerabilities found in the previous software version. The update doesn't bring any new features or performance improvements. The Galaxy S20 series is not eligible to get the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update that has already been released for the Galaxy S23 series.

To download the new update on your Galaxy S20 series device, navigate to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. You can also try the manual firmware flashing process to install the new update. However, you need to download the new firmware file from firmware database and flash it using Windows PC and the popular Odin tool.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 series in 2020 with Android 10 on board. The phones in the line up received the Android 11 update in late 2020, the Android 12 update in late 2021, and the Android 13 update late last year.
