HarmonyOS NEXT public beta

Introduction of HarmonyOS NEXT public beta next month

Huawei with an eye on boosting adoption of its mobile operating system after a year of strong growth in the Chinese smartphone market owing to a breakthrough mobile processor, it will likely accelerate the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta rollout in March. The company is currently focusing on closed beta testing for a few mid-range phones and flagship tablets. But it may soon speed up the public software testing.

HarmonyOS NEXT public beta program will run on the fast track starting in March. Users waiting for the new upgrade will soon receive it. The latest version of HarmonyOS, which was referred to as HarmonyOS Next during a testing period, the company has kicked off the HarmonyOS NEXT closed beta second wave for the Nova 13 series, Nova 12/Pro, and MatePad Pro 12.2. Perhaps these models will enter into the public beta stage next month. The Pocket 3 foldable, which is expected to debut next month, will come with HarmonyOS NEXT out of the box. Meanwhile, the HarmonyOS PC version’s development may also go into full swing in March. The respective device owners can prepare to install and enjoy a bit of stable software experience.

Create a backup of your device’s data beforehand, as HarmonyOS NEXT can wipe out all data for better optimization. The company launched HarmonyOS NEXT public beta program in October last year. It was initially opened for flagship devices like the Mate 60 series, Mate X5 and the MatePad Pro 13.2 2024 tablet. Later, it reached Pura 70 and Pocket 2. Devices like Nova 12 Ultra/Star Edition and MatePad Pro 11 2024 tablet also joined the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta pool. It offers a slightly more stable software experience than the closed beta builds.

Kindly use a stable internet or Wi-Fi connection for a seamless installation process. Battery should be charged, which you can manage as per the requirement. The public beta firmware will likely be of 2.0GB approximately. Based on the model, the software package size may vary. We suggest keeping enough storage space, say 8 to 10GB, to install the update without any interruption. Huawei will soon add more devices to this batch. HarmonyOS Next, which Huawei touts as being independently developed, no longer supports Android-based applications and has been dubbed “pure blood” HarmonyOS in China.
