Launch of One UI 6.1

Launch of One UI 6.1 : AI wallpapers, live calls translation and more

Samsung is heavily focusing on AI features for the Galaxy S24 series. New information says that it’s included in One UI 6.1 update. These are mostly AI-powered features which will arrive on the Galaxy S24 series first, and other Samsung phones later. One UI 6.1 brings AI-generated wallpapers, which will be created with text prompts. You will be able to give text prompts with the subject and background details, and the AI will create a wallpaper based on that. You can also edit the weather and portrait affects for the lock screen by changing the theme and mood. One UI 6.1 will also come with the ability to relocate objects in scenes, and move them beyond its borders. It seems similar to Google Pixel 8’s Magic Eraser feature. You can also move subjects from one image to another with One UI 6.1. Another AI feature that’s coming with One UI 6.1 is for Samsung Notes. The latest One UI update also brings live translate during calls, and background noise isolation in video and voice calls. Editing stickers and drawings will be easier as you’ll have the undo option, and won’t have to revert all changes at once. One UI 6.1 also brings enhanced battery protection features and customisation. It also adds and refines animations.

Samsung have started releasing One UI 6.1 update Galaxy AI to 9 flagship devices, bringing new features and enhancements to provide a next-level experience. With the rollout of the major update, Galaxy device owners are exploring its new features. However, many users have encountered issues with the Good Lock app after the One UI 6.1 installation. Following user feedback, there is a list of issues which users are facing after the One UI 6.1 update.

Keyboard Issue

With improved dictation performance, new keyboard buttons have been introduced to enable easier voice input. However, some users report missing voice buttons, leaving a space instead. Samsung is actively working to replicate and resolve this issue internally. As a temporary fix, disable the “Show keyboard buttons in navigation bar” option in the default and additional keyboard setting.

AOD Changes

One UI 6.1 update the connected animation and setting structure for AOD. But the AOD clock is now integrated with the lock screen clock and cannot be set separately. The manual brightness setting menu has been removed from the AOD settings. For those who prefer separate AOD and lock screen settings, a solution through the upcoming Always on Display (ver 8.7.99.11) and LockStar (v6.1.0.11) updates might be available.

NavStar

The NavStar app is a part of Samsung’s Good Lock suite, which allows users to customize their navigation bar, enhancing the overall user interface experience. To provide a better experience, the new update addresses an issue that users have been facing when upgrading One UI 6.1. But users who enable transparent hints in Navistar are facing non-responsive keys on the AI introduction screen. This is due to an overlap between Navistar settings and the new navigation bar. Samsung is aware and will release a fix soon. Users yet to upgrade to 6.1 should update Navistar first to avoid this problem.

Flip Cover Glitch

A new bug prevents the Good Lock app from launching on the cover screen via the power button. This issue is arising from a recent modification to access the Secure Folder app from the cover screen and requires a software fix, which will be addressed in the next update.

Samsung apologizes for any inconvenience caused by these issues and is working regularly to provide fixes. However, the company has released new NavStar and AOD updates which are expected to fix some of these issues.
