Google adds iMessage-like features to RCS messaging

Google is celebrating a major milestone on its RCS Messaging platform, reaching one billion users, by introducing a host of new features. These new features include Photomoji, Voice Moods, and more, bring the platform closer to its iOS counterpart, iMessages. The platform is similar to Apple's iMessages in iPhone. Apple plans to add support for RCS messaging to iPhones in late 2024.

Google is celebrating reaching the one billion users milestone on its RCS Messaging platform. RCS, short for Rich Communication Services, serves as a communication protocol connecting mobile phone carriers and individual devices. As per internationally recognized standard protocol within the telecommunications landscape, RCS has been designed to enhance SMS/MMS messaging, particularly on Android devices users.

If it is compared to Apple's iMessages, RCS Messaging has steadily expanded its feature set, incorporating many of the functionalities offered by its iOS counterpart. To celebrate reaching a remarkable milestone of one billion users, Google has announced the addition of several exciting features to the platform, further aligning its capabilities with those of iMessages for its users.
